Here is the Rock Lititz Cat 5 crit. I'll post an edited version sometime this weekend. I think I rode a good race, but did way too much work and had nothing for the final sprint.

Ordered a GoPro yesterday. What are people's software recommendations for editing and overlaying my Garmin 510 data (including power)? VIRB seems to require some extra steps to get the GoPro video, right?

The GoPro will come with it's own software that isn't too bad. I usually just use iMovie though. For overlaying data, try a program like Dashware.

I haven't used a gopro or the gopro software, but my virb is super easy to overlay the data..maybe see if the Virb Edit software will work with the gopro files

i tried watching athens twilight the other day. it was hard to watch anything other than the last few laps, and that was a relatively exciting domestic scene race. imagine watching a 1/2 field there....or a cat 3 or cat 5 field. pretty much no difference.

I think / hope that is the next evolution in racing. The ability to set up a few cameras along the course, while mixing in racers GoPro feeds. Having a video screen at the race and a streaming online feed would go a long way for the popularity of the sport. I'd watch some crappy Cat 4 race in Texas on a Sunday afternoon; there's nothing on TV worth watching.

I believe GoPro just came out with a broadcasting device for their cameras. One can hope that these options will soon come to racing. Definitely will make things more interesting to watch.

anyway....i always thought it would be cool to have a race where EVERY rider has one or two cameras (forward & backward), and then when you watch via the web you get to choose whose feed you want to watch. switch to contador for a climb or cavendish for a sprint (or his lead-out man's rear-facing camera).
would make things more exciting for the viewer.
watching athens twilight, which is about as exciting a domestic crit as they come, was much more similar to watching the cat 4 crit than it was to watching any event on the World Tour.
one HAS to be a super nerd, i think, to watch a large clip of that at a time.
i'd say i'm pretty nerdy about it, and even i couldn't get beyond watching a few laps.
the jumbotrons and such make things much more spectator-friendly at the venue. at cascade, for example, i might sit in/near an exciting corner but then i have NO idea what is happening at the finish.
i suspect you watch that event and can visualize yourself racing those venues--or know what those speeds feel like in a close pack. when i take my family or a non-racing friend to see the crit at, say, cascade, the don't really know much of the tactics, but the POWER of the peloton and the air blast is what they comment on. hard to really convey that in a TV/web feed unless one has been there.

unless there is something interesting about the region, or unless something super strategic or tons of attacking is going on, it's often not terribly interesting just to watch without also doing something else....for most people.
i think many people like to watch stuff like the TdF as it is a bit of a travelogue.

There was some discussion about team riding in the 2015 results thread. Here are <5 min of it at SoCal district championship today.
Team got 1,3,4. 2nd place was out of district (Mexico) so he "didn't count" for State jersey.

I agree, but my goal isn't to make entertaining videos, it's to use it as a training tool and to get feedback on my tactics/positioning. Making them enjoyable to watch is a distant 2nd.

I think you missed tetonrider's point. You can't expect people to slog through 45 minutes of unedited footage to give you feedback. A few times, maybe. Edit it down to under 5 minutes and that's a different ask.
