WR - What do you think about setting up a photo "How to" thread? People like yourself could post their race/ride photos and then detail their equipment, settings, and technique that were used to get the shot. I'm sure there are plenty of guys here that would like to share.

If you're using Canon Lenses use Optical Image Stabilizer Mode 2. Allows for panning and still stabilizes motion perpendicular to the panning. So it increases your chance of getting a sharp image of the rider, without interfering with the motion blur you're trying to create.
Not sure if Nikon has something similar or what they call it.

Can a powertap be calibrated if all you have is a Garmin (no LYC)?

Since I'm in the "needing calibration" boat right now, I'll chime in.
I talked to Saris the other day, and the "Calibration" field on a Garmin actually doesn't calibrate the PT. It does something about zeroing it, but to check or fix the calibration, you actually need a LYC/Joule.

COULD TOO! ( googling 30 kg to lbs.......) ohhhhhh....hmmm.... True story - In 6th or 7th grade we had to do "gym" in school. One semester was Weights and we all had to do a bench press as a starting point to see how much we would improve. I couldn't even bench press the bar (45 lbs). I was the only kid who couldn't, and the coaches just kind of stood there and scratched their heads. They were baffled.

My wife would love to see this kind of stuff, she loves taking pics of my races, even "Sat Morn Worlds" sometimes as practice. She's always fiddling with ISO, shutter speed, etc.

I'll admit the request was selfish on my part. We purchased a Cannon 7D a few months ago and I've been reading some other "how to" websites & trying different things to varying results. I'd like to have some real examples of bike racing specifically.
I'd start the thread myself but my "how to" would be:
1) Try to explain certain camera settings & techniques to the wife before race
2) Review photos of varying results using unknown settings with stock lenses.

Kudos to Quarq for the quick turnover. Sent my crank in for repair on Tuesday and got it back today. Thats just 4 business days. Hopefully the power meter will work correctly once installed.
BTW they also included a new water bottle .... I guess for the hassle.

They always do. Double check the box, you may also have a new battery cover and possibly another magnet.
