Haha! Very true.

I’ve lived in those temps for over a decade but it just seems impossible right now.

for anyone looking for a dependable crank-based power meter, i (and rkwaki) know of someone who is selling a wireless, ANT+ compatible, Dura Ace SRM PM. 170mm, 53/39t. original ad is here: https://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.c...g=srm;#4624955. $1300, and the seller is a very good, trustworthy guy.

OOf- Woke up this morning to emails from the fiancee. She's in Walnut Creek, CA, and has had her hotel room broken into. She's supposed to be traveling home today, but has no money, no ID's, no phone, and he work computer and cameras were stolen. She's left with the clothes in her suitcase and toiletries.

Apparently the door to her room didn't latch all the way, and the folks walked right in while she was at the gym. From her emails, it looks like she missed walking in on them by just minutes. Jesus, I'm glad she missed them.

She's fired off emails to her company for instructions. I can wire her money through Western Union which she can receive without ID, and if necessary, I can ship her passport to her same day, but holy hell- does that suck!

Whoever picked Charlotte up and moved it to South Florida, please put us back. The afternoon thunderstorm game is getting old.

She's safe, that's all that matters. Everything else is replaceable.

I'm commuting in it today and then club ride tonight at 7...28 mile commute and then usually another 30 at night. This will be my first time riding in the extreme heat...however, it's been 105-110 for the last month. Honestly, anything over 110 feels the same, it's just oppressive. So far it hasn't really been that bad, you just drink more water.

Also, to the "dry heat" sayers...well that's true. I grew up in Michigan with humid summers. Sure you might sweat a little more, but never did you feel like you were inside an oven.

I used to live in West Texas, so I became accustomed to 100+ days with zero to no humidity. I didn't mind the dry heat as much as I do the humidity I now deal with. At least there, I could actually dry off after taking a shower.

The one big issue with dry heats is the seeming lack of sweating. I'd still sweat, but it was so dry out there, it would evaporate almost instantly. On several occasions, I did not notice how much water I lost until I arrived home and started getting awful dehydration headaches. And I really knew I was in trouble when I started salting - white lines forming on my black shorts. I almost never see that here in the land of humidity.

In our ride group there's a guy, Al, that almost never pulls, but he can suck a wheel like none other. When we're gassed and need shelter, a couple of us have started referring it as riding "Zone A."

I thought I had a foolproof plan to take a state championship jersey. Re-read the flyer more carefully and it's a bust. Very unlikely now.

If she has an Amex card, they're good with emergency replacement cards.

Scary stuff. I've been at a few hotels where the room door doesn't self latch. Pisses me off.

Glad she's safe. This adventure will be fun to talk about when it's all over.

Yeah, I've been trying to drink around 24oz of water every hour I'm out on the bike. I still get dehydrated, but no headaches (yet). A friend told me that he cramps up at night when he doesn't drink enough water. I haven't had that happen yet, but ever since he said that, I've been trying to drink more. I hardly feel like I'm sweating when I'm on the bike, until I stop moving and then I just start dripping.

The salt thing is bad. After about an hour, if I rub my face its all gritty. At first I kept wondering why I was so dirty, but you can actually see the white on your hand from all the salt. After about 2 hours of riding I start getting white spots on my bibs and jerseys.

24oz/water seems like a lot. not overkill im sure, but possibly unnecessary?

i see that you're in AZ, which prob explains that. how big are you?
