Is there a comic that rhymes with "Dusted"?

The Missus told me there's a comic that's either Busted or Dusted and the current batch has a character that bought a Cervelo and is riding around in a Test Team Cervelo kit. I can't find anything "Dusted".

carpediemracing 09-13-13 11:36 AM

And yes I Googled for a while.

carpediemracing 09-13-13 11:38 AM

Dustin, nvm

You're welcome.

So as part of my campaign, we figured saving a baby, a kitty, or a puppy would be good PR. We're a bit short of funds, so this was the best I could do for now.

Little guy was stuck to the adhesive backing on some CF sheeting I had on my workbench.

Not easy to remove a tiny lizard from this stuff BTW. Tail took a hit. Once I got him free he didn't want to leave.

Finally sent him on his way.

Few days later I rescued his sister from our pool.

Remember...Hookers and Sandwiches heroic efforts!

So I've already commented on how my job/office environment is the suck, but today is kind of topping it off for me.

Well, I'm finally starting to move into the position that they've been yoyo'ing in front of me and I keep trying to stand up/volunteer for, after like 6 months, when we are getting slammed and I'll have to self train myself in the position. I've had a PTO day requested for over a month for this coming Monday. It's the last day my girlfriend is in the states before going to study abroad in England. An install came up at work that started today. We have restricted remote access that people on their end have to watch over us, so we only have set times we can work on it...6am to 10am our time because they are overseas. Well today we were unable to finish, which was kind of expected for the install type. The next day they can work (because of different weekends) is on Monday. I realize they need me to finish this process, so I volunteer to my boss that I'll just work remote in the morning from 6to10, because my girlfriend will probably be sleeping anyways, and hopefully finish up the install.

I get an email from the President after going home today that said basically if I want to step up and do this job, then I need to take no vacation and be in the office to do this install. I a) already volunteered to do the work, which my girlfriend will already hate me for because I cant even sleep in with her on her last day b) the work is remote overseas, so there is absolutely no reason to be in the office to do it anyways. If I need help from anyone it'll be someone that doesn't even work in the office, so I'd have to call them anyways.

The office morale is horrible. He watches over us and makes sure we put in 9+ hours a day (set times, no flexibility) or otherwise calls us out. We can't even go see a doctor without taking a PTO day, which is only if he approves it. There is zero work from home policy, and our office is in midtown atlanta (which means some people have to commute 2+hours a day, no matter what, 5 days a week).

Does anyone else think this is a complete joke or am I overreacting by considering quitting/turning in my notice?

From my own experience: you're not crazy. I was getting paid unusually well for a grad student, but my experience with my mentor was so bad that I ultimately quit my Ph.D. and took a M.S., knowing that I was looking a year of underemployment (at best) in the face without much savings to cover me during that time. It was really hard at times, and I very nearly hit empty before I landed the job I have now - and even now, although my gross pay is higher than what I made as a grad student, my net pay after taxes is less. But it was totally worth it. Now I have a good job, a great boss who backs her people with the head honchos, and reasonable hours. I'll be able to work my way up in pay soon enough, when I move on to a new position. Money can only compensate for a certain degree of misery; if you hate it that bad and you have time to find work, quit! You know it's not going to get better. Or if you don't have the savings to justify leaving immediately, start seriously job hunting. But absolutely - quit!!

Job review before. Joy.

That is a little lizard. You've got my vote. Thanks for saving him from the dangers of adhesive!

MDcatV 09-13-13 12:35 PM

you're bought and paid for by the lizard lobby.

It takes less strength/power/stamina to pick up a 5 pound dumbell versus a 25 pound kettleball...
I believe you said you were using dumbells...

He's using a shakeweight.

I think it's this.

Nice RacerEx, we had some frogs jumping into our community pool. Really cool to see them swim when they don't blend in with the environment. I moved them though, can't imagine that pool water is good for them! (apparently it used to be spring fed, but no more).

Didn't get a pic of the frogs, but I scared this guy back into his little stream from the middle of the road on my ride a while back

You're nice, I would have given them a 240 pound rkwaki cannonball...

mountain bike race this Sunday. Im terribly out of shape. Gonna pay my entry fee and go ride it.

gonna put an offer in on a house tomorrow morning.

big john 09-13-13 09:07 PM

Good luck with the house, JB.

We used to have glueboards in the house to try and catch scorpions and a lizard got in and got stuck on the glue. Mrs. John poured olive oil on him and he escaped.

I saved one enormous spider, one medium spider, and one tiny spider, all today.

I hope they eat a LOT of mosquitoes.

carpediemracing 09-13-13 09:17 PM

I put the 175 cranks back on today. Too lazy to solder in a new battery in the primary SRM (170mm, Keo Max2), too lazy even to switch the spiders, so I just swapped cranks and put the second SRM on the bike, complete with the 175 cranks and the Carbon pedals. I dropped the saddle 5mm to match leg extensions.

The first 15 minutes I first sustained 105-110 rpm then 98-100 rpm. I struggle to do that on 170s. I pushed a bit, felt fine. The cranks felt totally normal, no issues with fit etc. The backs of my legs are a bit more fatigued but that's it.

It makes me wonder why I stuck with the 170s this whole year. I sprint slower, I climb slower... I suppose I could pedal through some corners or something but not much else. I'm going to buy a second set of 175mm Cannondale SI crank arms so I have two of the same cranksets.

SpeshulEd 09-13-13 10:31 PM

I was asked to ride with a team yesterday...just doing some interval training. Today that team asked me to join.

Not really a big deal as its not really hardcore racers or anything and just about anyone can join that's interested, but they did approach me and ask me rather than the other way around, so thats pretty cool.

mattm 09-13-13 11:15 PM

Is there any magical reason an SRM needs to be campy? (they cost like $1k more)

Seems like it's basically just different chainrings, how special can it be??

edit: to clarify - I have chorus 11 now, wondering if I can go with an SRAM SRM or something and save $1k
