I put my keys in my seat pouch; you go down the right way and a key can do some serious damage.
I've joined the bike pump mafia. I've had so many flats the past few weeks (including being stranded 30 miles from home) it just seems like the safe option.

I have a Lezyne pouch that holds extra C02 cartridges, a few dollars and some other stuff. Phone, drivers license and keys go in the pouch, which then goes in my middle pocket.
Also, learned today I can get a good deal on an SRM if I want. That would require selling my Quarq though, which seems to be working now (knock on wood). I'm on my third unit since April.
Now I'm not only debating whether to buy the SRM, but also whether to go for a Sram SRM or something fancy, like the THM Clavicula M3?

Looks like Cav is switching down to a size 49cm at 5ft 8in based on "feel" so they claim from the article.

Doing a driver's education event this weekend at Roebling Road.
Should be a lot of fun, but it makes bicycle racing look very cheap. $225 for registration, $400 for single event insurance, $300 for a new helmet,
$200 for tech inspection, and getting the brakes fluid flushed.
Then there's a good portion of a set of tires, brake pads and rotors that will get burnt up.

Making a kilometer blurry
Crank arms are too simple to go screwing around with something other than "reasonable weight that puts my pedals the correct distance from the bb spindle."
It's going to take a lot of convincing to get me to believe that it's possible to have better race results with something like the THM Clavicula M3 vs. an SRM crank. Maybe it's lighter, so I'll grant hill climbs, but sheesh.

They're charging you $200 for pre-track inspection? If whoever you are tracking with charges that much, you can afford to pay it. Atl message: don't complain about high costs of a PCA/BMWCCA track day and they're crazy fees

When I built my current steed it was built with the intention of a being a pure sprint bike. Not trying to compare myself to Cav but it was built (much like his) for a specific purpose.
My BMC was a 56, the Masi is a 53. I am 5'10.5" and my inseam is 32"
Frame is much smaller than I should should be on.
Componentry:
SRAM Red
SRAM SRM (53/39)
Ciamillo Brakes
All of that is pretty standard
Bars are Shimano Pro Vibe 7S - they are allloy and super stiff
Stem is a Pro Vibe Track Stem (the one that Cav used to use), 120mm, why? because there is nothing stiffer and there is no stack as it sits on the headset...
Pedals are Speedplay Zero with custom titanium spindles that are thicker/stronger yet very light
Wheels are custom Reynolds 66mm built into i9 hubs (similar to Chris King)
Selle Italia SLR Monolink Saddle and seatpost
Everything was picked to to make it as stiff as possible to minimize the amount of flex that I might get due to my 'zaftigness' as chappy would call it. It is not particularly comfy and is kind of harsh but had I been racing it I think it would have done the trick.
Pros are going to smaller and smaller frames but I was surprised to see Cav is going that small...

An even bigger change on Cav's bike is he has changed to traditional bend bars from his normal Ergo...

I'm big on self insuring risk you can afford to absorb, but even a $60,000 self funded retention is more risk than I want to absorb.

I used this cycling wallet. My buddy in LA makes them and it's perfect. It BARELY fit my old Galaxy, but fits my Moto X and iPhones with room to spare.

I have always dabbled with a 56cm and bmc 55cm is actually pretty close stack/reach combo if I was more flexy

I'm 5'8" and ride a 49". The reach on it is long and the stack isn't very high. Some bike manufacturers go a tad crazy with the stack / reach ratios, but to be fair I really like the feel of a smaller bike.

I also ride what you might think is a small frame, 56 being 6'2" and a 35" inseam. Slammed stem and I've done plenty of 7+ hour rides without issue.

On non-Cav things I had a great meeting with the tenant complainant this afternoon. Now I'm at a cycling advancement function so it's good to arrive here with good things on my mind.
Basically now I'm 99% sure that the races will happen this year. I committed to the numbers just before I hit up BF so there's money on the table now.
