Since I can't currently ride, I've been surfing Amazon for CDs of albums I liked and still have but can't play due to no longer having the old audio system and turntable. It looks like it would be cheaper to find a turntable that connects to my laptop, especially since a couple of those albums are out of print and collectible. Recommendations? I'm not looking for super audiophile-level quality; the idea is to save them to iTunes and copy them to my iPod, I just don't want them coming out sounding like MP3s. If there's freeware that works better, I'd be interested.

I realize that the arms are similar and the spiders are different. Semantics, then. I wouldn't call a direct replacement an upgrade.

My Quarq is on the way back to Spearfish for the last time.

Not quite. They supply 7800, 7900, or 9000 rings, though the basic arms are the same. The 7900 rings are noticeably different on the bike, at least when run with di2. I cannot speak to the 9000 rings as although I have handled many of them I have never ridden them. I am curious.

i agree....that is not so much an upgrade. However, in this case I believe SRM updated the electronics and battery in huge actual power meter portion.

one can still buy a 7800 new from SRM today. I would guess Gary had a pm6 and now they supply pm7s. There is no cosmetic tell other than the label the back. The antenna and, most importantly, the battery life have changed.

It it is a significant upgrade in that way, though not a change in the model of crank.

What does that mean? You sold it back to them?

And no, I won't be there to deal with your plumbing issues, but I will have a plumber head out, and when they are done I'll get a custodian over there to sanitize.

truthfully I was on my way out the door when I spoke to her, and I only half paid attention to anything that was said after 'crack' and '$500.' My main concern was getting my race bike back on the road, eating pho with my wife, and seeing spawn rock his guitar recital. I wrote a clarifying email as I'm now curious.

You useless apathetic management buttwipe. I expected you to show up with a plunger in hand.

Be careful with apathy, it is an addictive drug.

After two S975's and now my second Riken, I'm done. It will be up for sale as soon as it returns with new electronics.

No, I'll use the Powertap for tomorrow. I found a great deal on a two year old Red SRM that has a fresh battery and cal. 11 speed rings are a bolt on when that time comes.
