I found this on the site.

It's for the Saturday crits.

The Friday crits are an up and back around the traffic circle and back down towards Old Salem shown on Google maps. Just like Champs de Elysian.

Just show up. We'll make sure you find the start line before someone tries to trade you your bike for some magic beans.

Yea, a 41 chainring probably wouldn't have been an issue but I'd probably need my 36 for climbs down the road.

Technically, I was, for five days. You make a good point, though. I started racing as a Cat4 because there was no Cat5.

almost got tail-ended during my evening commute, and then almost got hit by a car who blew through a stop-sign and was making a left turn

all this after pretty much event free riding for the first 18 months in northern VA. I now got some serious incentive not to bike so late

Ovoleg mentioned that to me on a ride, that some of the guys on this thread were never 5s, after he said I was a dick for not defending him here.
I suppose he was right.

Any suggestions for removing base tape for a carbon rim?

I apparently did an awesome job gluing the tire on, and when I tried to pull it off, the tire tore off from the base tape, which is still firmly glued to the rim. I was able to pick about half of it off, but I got tired of using needle nose pliers to grab a small bit and yank off a few threads.

Im about ready to try Goop Off or something like that?

Well, that makes sense based on the map I found. Of course, the description on the flyer says "Four-corner" crit. They should fix that.

Will you be racing?

Pro De-Solv-it® CONTRACTORS' SOLVENT™ REMOVES ALL THIS!

The 2 time national champ in town (and podium finisher on other occasions), his dad uses this stuff on all their Zipp wheels (he has two identical road bikes, two identical cross bikes, spare wheels, so there are a lot of wheels). He swears by it, orders it by the case. I've never used it so I can't say one way or another, but I imagine that if there were any problems with it they'd have noticed in the last few years. He says spray it on heavy, let most of it drip off with the glue, and then if there are some deep spots then you use a rag or brush to scrape. He says the rim looks clean after he sprays the rim then lets it sit for a few hours. Put some cardboard or something under the wheel/s.

Now come to think of it, both are actually similar.

In the near tail-ending, the car was at an intersection, approaching from the street on my right. He had a red, and either rolled it completely or didn't see me as i was crossing the intersection.

For the guy at the stop-sign, he also started on my right and was making a left turn (so that he would eventually be travelling in the direction opposite of mine).

I now wonder if my light is placed too low to be seen. The actual light is under my bars, and pointed down so that i could see the ground more clearly. Perhaps i should have mounted it above the bar and pointed horizontally. Also, flashing the damn thing definitely gets people's attention, but when i started doing that (after the stop-light incident), one car travelling in the opposite direction was actually slowing to a crawl, and i'd guess that the flashing lights is rather blinding?
