4 1/2 hours with my homies. Felt pretty good. Got wet for about the last 1/2 hour which was pretty freakin' cold. I do get some 'hard-man' points for that, though, don't I?

2:45 outside today, followed up by a gym session working on the back. Just about 11 hours for the week, not including weights. Yeah, that's nothing, but it's a start.
"Like when you're training, you can always do one more. Always. As tired as you might think you are, you can always, always do one more"... So there's no such thing as overtraining? "If you overtrained, it means you didn't train hard enough to handle that level of training. So you weren't overtrained: you were actually undertrained to begin with. So there's the rule again: The guy who trains the hardest, the most, wins."

45 hrs for the month, which is the highest ever. Gawd, it's good not having to be in lab all day.
OTOH, i somehow don't like the roads in Maryland as much as I like the roads outside of NY (read, mostly NJ) nor the roads in the rural parts of NJ north of Princeton, and the latter is quite similar to the roads in Maryland. Must be something about the monotony of the Maryland roads...

After 2 long days in the saddle, I went a lot shorter today. 1:40 with big gear/ short hill repeats. It's a 50 second hill that I climb as fast as possible while seated at ~50rpm. The triangle shaped loop takes you back to the base of the hill. The loop takes about 4 minutes if you soft-pedal the return. I did 10 of those. The first few, when your legs are fresh, aren't too bad. Power started to drop off on the last 2, though. They get really hard as your cadence gets slower and slower. I could have gotten the power up by downshifting, but that would have been counter to what I was trying to do (basically on-the-bike leg press).
After that, I took a quick spin and was home before the kids were out of bed. Success.

woah, since when do you live in maryland?! what industry did you end up landing a job in, if you don't mind me asking?
if you're ever near baltimore, hit me up. There really is some great riding in Maryland. and mabra races are excellent. pretty full schedule and lots of competitive guys. i was worried going into last summer but it ended up being my favorite season of racing yet.

As for the job, I work for the Patent & Trademark Office as a patent examiner, working on chemistry patents. It's been good so far, and I definitely prefer it to grad school.
Btw, you doing collegiates this year? And you are a junior, right?

Sounds like a pretty cool gig, glad you enjoy it, they need any interns for next summer?

3:10 today, with Veloboy and a couple of other people. I was in the wind the whole time except for a 10 minute segment. Longest ride I've done since September -- this used to be a fairly easy distance for me, but I was tired by the end of it.
