Of course when getting insurance it is based on statistics and not your individual situation. Seeing a very low pulse rate raises a flag making you an insurance risk to them even though it is a sign of very good health for you.

I'm exercising. Sort of regularly. For an average schmuck I'm exercising a lot.
Training? Not so much.
If I'm not relying on race smarts and half ass fitness to sneak in a result here or there and make everyone but my teammates miserable (and I'm really good at this) I need to actually buckle down.
Eff you season starting in January. (sigh)

One thing I did learn this week; Gym work is going to be just as important as putting in miles. After 3 tears and 1 surgery on my left leg, it isn't nearly as strong as it should be.

Everyone is different. I need a huge amount of volume in base training otherwise I kill myself in the next phase and it is all for nothing. I have been putting in close to 400 miles per week building base in my last base block. I am over half way through it and my legs are getting tired. (Just two more days and then a super easy/rest day!) After that will be 200 mile weeks while doing lots of SST and some 2x20's and ZCIs (FTP building). Then down to 100 to 150 mile weeks doing the some of the short and painful stuff (1x10 1 minute intervals, stomps, etc.) that makes you fast for short amounts of time (sprints, bridging efforts, etc.).

Don't overthink it. Get a basic training plan together and stick to it. Set your zones off of your last threshold test and go with it. You can adjust zones if your threshold is off, or when your fitness changes. It doesn't matter where you were or where you're supposed to be. You need to focus on where you are and where you want to go.
I like this.
Might be a little late but the worst weather I've been in has been ~0 degrees with some snow on the ground and hail. Had moments of pure quietness with just the sound of my tires on the pavement and snow falling, that was incredible. Easily the best experience I've had on my bike. It was fun and I'd probably do it again, except for the going down a hill at 50km/h with hail blowing into my face part.. ouch.

Finally felt good on the bike, almost 2hrs with some endurance and fast pedals...
i can tell I'm stressed, or suffering a bit of anxiety...Having issues getting in deep breathes...Just have to relax.

Snapped the seat clamp 4 1/2 hours into a 5 hour ride. 10 miles out of the saddle on a fixed gear to get home. Thankfully only a raspberry on my butt.

Making a kilometer blurry
90 minutes on the trainer with the team, in a garage. 20 minute ride in the rain to go pick up the car from the shop.

Another Spectrum ride today - more of the same: taking sprints.
Except I actually gave a (successful) leadout this time, instead of what's usually been the other way around.
It's fun being an apprentice to an ex-pro! Gonna be a great season coming up in a few weeks.

My legs would be screaming after 10 miles out of the saddle...if I could do it in the first place! Glad nothing (else) serious happened.

80 miles today.
First half was Spectrum ride. Finally hung in there the whole way out and back. Should have gone for the sprint on Alpine - downhill and I was right there like 3rd or 4th wheel with a lot of energy but I didn't know where the sprint was. It wasn't really contested very hard. Next time. Oh, and I hit 348 watts for 5' - a 23 watt improvement!
Second half was a hilly loop ~33 miles. Solo at endurance pace.

Just looked at the Strava: 5th, 9th and 12th overall on 3 variations of Page Mill-Moody descent. That's the one I was going for today.
