Thanks to time off from my knee injury and second surgery to remove my clavicle pin, I'm way behind my original schedule, but back on the bike the last couple of weeks. The rest of me is starting to feel quasi-normal, now I just need my legs to start coming around! 2 hours in the sunshine yesterday felt great, but even at endurance pace, I was smoked by the end. I want my speed back!

Yeah, I spaced out on it last night, so I did it this morning to have it done before PT sesh number two this evening. Legs are tired from a weekend of endurance work, so it was a serious burn.

Coached state meet so did zero riding over the weekend. Went out for an impromptu Old La Honda 18.5' test today. A few minutes in I noticed I my breathing felt way too similar to a 5' test...

Results: same power as last month, but this time the first 5' were 51 watts higher than the last 13.5 minutes, which were just above ftp. Oops.

First Vo2 hill repeats of the season. 6x4'. Beat all my power targets and was able to only lose 3% on the last interval over the 3rd. Feeling great! What is working so well? I attribute two things:

+ Only 4 hard days a week. The rest ridiculously easy. 2 days hard, 1 day recover, 2 days hard, 2 days recover.
+ Stopped trying to lose weight and be in a constant calorie deficit.

tt intervals.

on 2/19 my 3x Alpine intervals were 354/353/341 watts. today 371/360/360. I don't compare the times because of wind/different helmets, etc.

You think its a fitness thing or a just getting used to the position? Cause I doubt that your normal 8min power has gone up that much...

it's acclimation. still like 15% off my 8-min power for the road bike. I'm still super new to the TT bike, like 15 hours maybe.

Do you train with your TT helmet? I don't have one yet, but imagine I would look odd out for a solo ride wearing one.

Noon Ride. And hour and a half of fun. Ride was sketchy compared to some of the other group rides around here though. Almost no fighting for position, but a good number of riders seemed to not really be paying attention (one guy just moved right out into the lane in front of a car, one guy swerved sideways to get out and move up, nearly taking someone out, etc). The way more aggressive Spectrum ride and Alviso crit seem much safer to me.

On the weekend? yes. Get used to the equipment you'll use in a race.

When I commute in on TT bike and do intervals at lunch, no.

I definitely recommend sample sizes no larger than 1.

To me, Spectrum is worse. _shrug_

both have their moments

30 miles after work with coworker, both of us testing new carbon wheels. Big water puddles on the road spoiled the party and was tempted to walk my bike over the water.

I take some flex time. I show up way before everyone else, and take 90-105min lunches usually. Enough time for a good training ride.

Force reps today - 4 sets of 4x12 strokes in 53x14, uphill, slow start. Goal is 200% FTP for each of the reps.

It feels easy, so much so that combined the last two sets. I either need to start pedaling harder or doing more sets!

That was ~30 minutes of riding, then came back home and did 30' more on the trainer since it was getting dark.
