Really out of shape, but starting to get in multiple training rides during the work week. Gotta get some base in and shed some pounds. Rode this morning for over two hours and sweated out a lot of water. I smelled really bad when I got home.

I am so out of shape that when I tell my wife I am going out for a ride she thinks that it is a good idea. When I was in shape she complained about how many hours I was spending on my bike.

They say you cannot Win the Strava, but when I set PRs on Old La Honda and reset my all-time power from 3:30 -16:30 it feels like winning.

75 mile group ride today. Before the injury, I'd do 2 fast group rides and possibly some intervals on Tuesday. But yesterday I rested and felt really good.
First climb 22:00, high tempo. Resisted the urge to hammer, not knowing how I'd fare after a month of recovery.
Felt good so I hammered the next climb, a bit over 8 minutes at 107%
3 hours in, STILL feeling fresh, I decided to try the last climb over threshold. 19 minutes just under threshold and just about died, but it felt good.

For me it's always more. Typically around 70-100 watt drop. My best jump ever dropped 130 watts for 5".

Although, the first thing to go when I'm fatigued is the 1 second max.

Informal CX training race last night. Those accelerations from near dead stops are a killer.

West Sac. No soccer practice last night so my wife dropped my son and his bike off near my office and we rode over. Super fun and really good for our bike handling skills. We rode to Whitey's Drive-In for corndogs and peach shakes after. Pretty much a perfect evening.

Awesome! Sounds like the turnout at both events has been pretty good. Should make for a fun and well attended season.

Last evening I got chased up my 20 minute climb by some skinny dude on a tri/TT bike. He passed me at the top but I spotted him 3 minutes on the descent and still passed him near the bottom. I swear, that hill is like revenge of the skinny dudes...

Every hill is the revenge of the skinny guys. That's why I love the flat crosswind races.

Ab workout this morning
30' swim at lunch.

Back is feeling better and better, everday. I only feel it now when my right hammy is under full extension, and even then not too much.

Plan next week is to start with a couple 30-60' z1 spins, with stretching after, and take it from there.

If a man does not train, and he races at an industrial park, will he still suck?

Went out and did the local "trail" ride today. I felt really good and was going pretty hard. At the turnaround I met up with a colleague and rode back pretty chill. Good day.

Starting to get my mileage up again, just hit 200 for the week. 48 mile group ride today. Felt comfortable going for a few of the sprints today, but I'm still a bit tentative sprinting hard, didn't even crack 1000, but felt pretty good moving into position without going into the wind, working hard beforehand, or squeezing gaps.

Last sprint a cat 2 kid attacked at a short bump a minute out. I hopped on a leadout (2 guys), assuming we would catch him. We didn't. Leadout was a bit too slow, and I started to come around but the guy I was following (an older cat 4) saw me and beat me for 2nd by a couple bike lengths.

Drove out 60 miles to ride a road race loop (50m) with hills. Ended up doing 75 miles, 3k ft 100 degrees HOT.
