Big up R. If one wants, John Fox made RCommander, which basically provides an SPSS-interface to use with R, if one wants to avoid writing commands

We were taught SPSS in poly sci since few of us had coding experience, and I used it a couple of times after that to do some regression analyses for a startup I was involved with...but it was never much fun to tinker with.

R-Studio and many of the USGS modules worked wonders for me.

Stagraphics was blah and I've heard that SigmaPlot is supposed to be great.

Gravel recovery today. 90 minutes z2 that was more difficult than it should have been. Road graders and north wind may have been a factor.

3 days walking around San Francisco was way harder on my body than cycling. Every muscle in my legs aches, and I have sore feet and shin splints! :-)

That's because it doesn't sound like it was really recovery

I refer to really hard z2 sessions as z3.

HR was solidly in Z2. Don't have a power meter on my CX/gravel bike so no accurate measure of power. Maybe it was a recovery day for my heart but not my legs.

If the promised PMs in the $400-500 range come out this year and look reliable, I'm putting one on my CX bike just so I can figure out what's going on when My legs think I'm in Z3 and ny heart is still in Z2.

...out of curiosity what's your definition of z2? I consider Z2 endurance, which I still consider a workout.

I'm the same way. Recovery rides are z1 for me, and are typically around 130-150 watts. z2/z3 rides are usually longer endurance rides with intervals mixed in. 90' of z2 sounds boring and like what most refer to as "garbage miles"

Recovery is a workout, too.

I use a fairly standard definition of Z2 - roughly 60-80% of max HR or FTP.

Do you ever do easy spins or is this actually the easiest you ever go on a bike?

That's not what I use at all. Maybe 70-75% of LTHR, not MaxHR.

Occasionally, I take a Z1 ride in lieu of a rest day (or when my wife tags along).

~95 minutes on the trainer, 122 tss. Got into the Zwift beta the other day, decided to use that. It's a pretty cool program, I'm liking what they have going on.

Made it through 3.5 of the VO2 intervals this week, felt like I really had to dig deep for the last stretch of tempo. 183 TSS, stick a fork in me, I'm done.

And after my roller session tomorrow morning, time for a recovery week. Kinda looking forward to testing my FTP. While my volume was a bit lower than I wanted (I missed a day of training in each of the last two weeks), I feel like it has been productive training block. Hard, challenging, but my body seems to be responding reasonably well.

An hour of Z3/4 on the trainer. Planning to XC ski again later, when it's just really ****ing cold instead of ***ing cold as **** like it is right now.

I re-did my power zones per some chart, coggan's or friel's (one of those) and my z2 goes to 280w now but the upper zones seem more in tune with PE.

anyway, my point is 2.5 hours of tempo in a row might kill me.
