anyone cook with tofu? i've never really eaten it at all but i tried some my roommate had cooked and it actually tasted really good. might have to pick some up. a lot cheaper than meat, too.
i'm calling bull****. a) this is probably a sign that you're not "dieting" properly and b) your body doesn't crave treats and indulgences because it doesn't need treats and indulgences. this probably means that you're just using your "taste buds" as an excuse to eat cookies or your body is telling you you're missing something else. rkwaki told me sweet cravings mean you're craving protein but i never looked up the peer reviewed research supporting that.
i also find it a lot easier to dip below goal weight then come up a bit as training intensifies. if you're stable at 155, racing at 145 sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Regardless I think you guys are right to the extent I have to up my protein even more. The sugar I just need to htfu and stop eating.
The lowest weight I have been the last few years is 163, and I still had some weight to lose in the gut. 155 should get rid of that gut, however at some point there will be a point were losing weight is a detriment, and I do not know if that is 145. Since I haven't been in that zone for a long time, its going to be a trial and error exercise. I really couldn't tell you if its a recipe for disaster or not.

I mix it up here and there with Tofu. You have to be careful as a lot of the recipes you find will either be friend or have really heavy sauces. I usually buy the extra firm organic, and marinate it after cutting it up into little cubes. Toss than into a stir fry and you're good to go

I tend to avoid soy products. If you get legit fermented soy, you're probably OK, but there are things in non-fermented soy that may increase estrogen. If I'm trying to get a dense protein source, it will have (hopefully) run around a field at some point.

Why is this? I know that I tend to want to eat a lot when short on sleep but it seems that my body wants more calories than just those that were burnt in the time that I would I have been asleep. So what deeper mechanism/hormone is at work?

Also soy has anti-nutritive properties and can block absorption of protein.
Soy is pretty much a garbage form of "food". The majority of soy in the states is GMO as well.
I like meat.

I think you can definitely get into the area of nit picking and spending too much time over-thinking things, but sleep is very important.

There are a bunch of mechanisms at work, but among other things, a lack of sleep will drive cortisol up and testosterone down. As far as wanting more calories, that's at least partially a component of the cortisol release which is tied to insulin and leptin sensitivity (both of which take a hit).

So for breakfast number 2 I had:
5 eggs, 10 egg whites, 2 biscuits and gravy, three slices of bacon.
Does that fit into FatBoy's diet?

If you ditch the biscuits and the gravy is made without flour, no problem. I had a 4-egg omelet with serrano's, onions, spinach, liverwurst and fresh hot salsa. A little different, but certainly from the same playbook! I've started to stick the liverwurst in things like this every once in a while to get more organ meat goodness. There's a lot of nutritional elements you get from liver and heart that you just don't get from muscle meats.
I've got the 1/2 head from the cow I bought thawing. I'm going to stick it on the grill later and tonight is going to be barbacoa tacos. The kids don't need to know exactly what part of the cow it all came from. All they need to know is that it's going to be good. That's kind of an awkward thing to have in the freezer and it's not vacuum packed like the rest of it, so it goes first. I don't know why, but I get a real kick out of gnarly looking food.
