help an injured BF roadracer....my FRANKENTRAINER project!
does anyone here have a 10 speed road frame lying around with a damaged head tube, top tube, seat tube, or seat stays that renders it worthless for them. for shipping + cheap/free, i'd like to take it off your hands and turn it into FRANKENTRAINER.
i've been recovering very slowly from proximal hamstring tendinosis over the last year, and am still unable to ride a normal road bike. though it goes against every ounce of my pride, i am realizing that i may have to go recumbent for a while until the healing process is complete. the main problem is that any road saddle aggravates the tendon. it has royally sucked to go from racing (at my best form ever) and riding 150-200 miles a week to zero with dwindling hopes of coming back, so any way i can get back on the bike/road is a valid option at this point.
since it is the winter, i am trying to build up a recumbent trainer that uses my lemond revolution trainer, and uses a recumbent-style seat.

I don't have any of the parts you need, but I wish you luck anyway.
Have you thought about just craigslisting a stationary recumbent?
^^ feels weirdly like an insult, but it's not intended to be!
*edit: How's the beard feel?

i am working on the beard, and the perpetual smile to replace my roadie sneer, and will also apparently need spd sandals.
the plan is to build up a real recumbent in the spring if i am not healed up enough for my real bike, so I wanted to do something on the super cheap to get my legs back in some kind of shape over the winter. i have used stationary recumbents for many thousands of miles as i rehabbed from knee injuries and surgeries (once every 4 years or so), and the q-factor and road feel on those things is ridiculous (and i have access to them at the gym anyway).

+1 have at it. Don't post any photos of the operation though, unless you really do want that peacock guy following you around at some point.
BTW, I was thinking that a cot-style mesh suspension system could be employed too, if the CF bent seat isn't readily available.

the seat is the next big challenge after the frame bit...i figure i can get by with a used stationary recumbent seat off ebay, if i can't find a real cf recumbent seat for a reasonable price.
or i can just saw a channel cutout in the barcolounger that will fit around the trainer.

no worries, but once we hit like around the 50th plate of donuts i might start feeling a little used. i'll add some protein powder and EPO to the next batch to give you some more energy.

you could glue up a couple 2x6s and cut a hole for a PF bottom bracket. would give you a nice little frame to work off of, and easier that trying to stabilize the busted bike frames.
