you'll be driving 3+ hours one way to do a race where you could flat out after two laps. It's not just gravel, but gravel with serious potholes that don't get patched. Sometimes a spade should be called a spade. Caveat emptor.

i probably wouldn't drive 3+ hours for poolesville (or most races, really), but that's kind of a silly reason. you could say that about so many races.

my main complain was the finish is on a narrow road and there was a yellow line rule all the way. half the 3 field was over the line (like...significantly) though with no repercussions.

That may be more aggressively enforced this year, seeing as how the officials at AVC RR (similar course) DQ'ed the entire 35+ M123 field, save for the top 4 finishers, for egregious centerline rule infraction.

@Harlan in regards to Cream Will Rise: No real gripes aside from a lack of distance to go markers and the caveat that it is a narrow course as Mikey mentioned. That being said I feel that it benefits a breakaway that has good cumulative climbing legs due to the hill and the fact that 30 seconds up the road gets you out of sight in general.

I just got an email from the White Plains Crit saying it was now the NY state champ race. I thought that was supposed to be Thater or whatever that race is now called. Anyone know the back story? @Grumpy McTrumpy?

@globecanvas, longtime lurker infrequent poster. I'm also the race director for White Plains. Yes, we were asked at the last minute to host the NYS Crit Championships. Thater/Empire State Crit will not happen this year. I was told there were permitting issues, but my sense there were a few issues going on at the same time. It's unfortunate that a longstanding race is not on the calendar this year.
I hope all of you NE riders will be able to attend White Plains. Any questions feel free to reach out via PM or through the BikeReg page.
Thanks!
- Craig.

Hey, thanks for the info. I did not care for the downtown Thater course, but I heard they were moving back to the old park course which was cool. That race has been around forever.
I'll be at White Plains for sure, it's a great race!

I mean, the actual Chris Thater NCC race was cancelled long ago. (the word was spreading about that within days of the 2016 race end). that Empire State Crit was going to be a more local replacement but I didn't expect it would even have been second tier National level.

man, weather looks iffy on Saturday for Bear Mountain. It's a great race to do leading into KSR, but I'm not too keen on racing in the mid-50's with 100% chance of rain.
