I'm a former expert racer. I rode and raced pretty hardcore, but gave it up for the road because I'm simply better at it. Last summer I went out and did a race (first mountain bike ride in probably 3 years) and thought I'd have a solid shot of winning the single speed class. I really sucked. I found it very hard to keep the rubber side down. In my handful of rides over the summer and fall I probably spent as much time on the ground as not. It was not as easy as I recalled.

How's the hill at Lime Rock as compared to say Bethel, or the incline at New Britain?

I tried to watch a race video to see, and I can't. For some reason when I watch race videos lately my heart starts pounding like I'm actually the guy pedaling the bike. It's really strange. I had to stop. I think I'm losing my mind.

It's slightly longer than Bethel, I think it's an easier grade though. A bit more of a false flat after, at Bethel Turn One is downhill, at Limerock you have to pedal a bit at the top of the hill.

Super wide though.

^ lol

I don't have power data. The last time I raced it I had a skipping bent chain, it was raining, and whatever, and another time I was sick so I didn't ride. But I think? it's easier, no punchy anything like Bethel.

I just got assigned to the Kermis and Cyclonauts at Stafford Springs. If you ride like a putz, be afraid as I am a depressed, angry, injured bike racer official. Otherwise please say hello.

I'll see you at the Kermis for sure.

See you at Kermit's!

Is there a yellow line there? If so, remember that time I gave you beer?

[edit] I probably shouldn't even make that joke.

My orthopedist made the list in the M50+. I see him in a few minutes. Will give him the low down.

Is the number one guy a BF guy? Seeing 2-4 made me smile.

For any Boston area folks, the Charlie Baker Time Trial Series starts this coming Wednesday. Don't know how much I'll be able to do it, but the route is part of my regular riding loop so it would be fun to at least do it a couple of times.
