Team, '13. And I DID have it. Last month I tore a big hole in it just trying to pull it on over slightly sweaty, sticky skin. And I didn't tear that hole at a normal weak point like a seam, it just tore right at the point of the jersey where I was holding it. I get that it's intended to be high-performance and not durable, but if I can't put it on without ruining it, it's probably not for me.
i don't think castelli would say it is "supposed to be high performance and not durable." my team stuff from them (body paint, inferno) lasts multiple seasons, as it should.
give them a call. it will be difficult for you to get a replacement if it was truly team stuff but i bet you get some form of compensation.

I honestly don't think I give enough of a crap at this point to call them. It was clear from maybe halfway through last season that this thing wasn't holding up very well, lots of pilling, some little holes appearing, etc. And I'm not on that team anymore, either. It's not really clear how a replacement would do me any good.

little holes can happen in the sanremo from pins as the material stretches a great deal -- it's easy to put on a number with the pins a little too close together and then when it is stretched out to see the old holes. that's not uncommon for a skin suit.
you shouldn't see pilling or tears like you did, period. i wore the couple i have a ton. seems like if you feel the sanremo was a bunch of $$ for a racer on a budget it would be worth your time to at least make one call to them. give them a chance to make it right. the folks in warranty and at the custom group are pretty darn helpful. it's a premium garment, and even at the team pricing, it's still expensive; a product priced like that shouldn't fail.
as another point of reference, i had a 2- or 3-yo skin suit (the actual TT version) from them; the zipper eventually failed--not uncommon for when you're squeezing yourself into a garment that's essentially 2 sizes too small. sent it in asking if there was any way we could put a new zipper on it; they sent me an updated, brand-new version back.
you shouldn't be out that kind of money, IMO.

well, they wouldn't be able to give you a replacement (because your team would have had to order more--castelli custom is not going to stock any), so i suspect the would have offered you some sort of refund or credit in other merchandise (retail shorts, base layers, etc.).

Last year, a couple women on my wife's team were unhappy with the quality of their bibs. In one case, the pair tore the first time the person put it on. My wife called to complain, and they sent them three replacement pairs. I was really surprised they did that because usually they had a 10-order minimum.
it's worth the quick phone call, unless somebody's time is worth more than $200/5 minutes ($2400/hr), in my opinion.

i ride in the sanremo (team version) and absolutely love it. if i had one for every day of the week or a soigneur washing my kits, i'd wear it all the time. i find it ridiculously comfortable. i also don't find the shorts to be long, but of course that depends on what size sanremo you're wearing and what size femurs you've got. (i downsize the sanremo, but i could get a pretty good fit even 1 size up.)
Edit to add: @ $225 the sanremo is not cheap, but IMO the price relative to the quality of the sanremo is solid. i've seen much lower quality separates cost more than that. everyone has different preferences. the team members that i've got sanremos for have fallen in love with theirs, so i'm curious as to what you don't like (if other than the price).

I just pull them to the length I feel proper (which is just a little under half way up my quad (being only 5'5" it's not as high as it sounds). It sometimes covers some of the side panelling but I'm of the opinion that more leg is more pro looking that freddish super long shorts. Also. I like having my tan lines higher.
