It is a cool tool. I built something similar myself a few years ago, but this looks to be perfect.

So you are decent at both?

some hangars are pretty soft. I travel with a few extra. Modern top end groups are so good that if you can't get shifting perfect really quickly there is a decent shot it is the hangar.

Abbey makes yes an awesome alignment gauge if you are ever interested.

I have the Park DAG tool. Not perfect but it works well with my trainer wheel which has an aluminum rim. Makes it easier to judge the gap. I also carry a spare Felt hangar in my bag. You never know.

I'll dig around for info on those Pro bars. I like my Ergosums, they work well with my small hands. I'm not sure how well full round bars would be, although in the Good Old Days I raced Cinelli Criterium bars which are a lot like track bars. The difference now is the sprint shifters.

I have some Mavic Tra-comp wheels.

Have been getting 'tink, tink, tink' sound from the front. Increased the tension slightly, & noticed small washers appear to be coming out from under the spoke heads.

Any info.?

bottle cages; what are the best ones?

been using tacx tao but they always seem to break after about 8 months for me..

I've been using the Elite Custom Races and have successfully lost bottles at Snelling and Bariani this year ... so, I can't recommend them.

I bought some cheap Chinese carbon cages a few years ago. Total crapshoot, but they have worked well.

i've had the tacx uma carbon ones for like 4 years. they've been solid. arundels are nice, too.

sometimes it's the bottle, too.

this year the whole specialized masters team lost bottles in the gravel at chico. there were tons of their red CLIF bar bottles through that section.

my raw alu caad9 looks hawt w stainless cages, so that's what I got. I like them a lot.

same w my training bike, which is lugged steel.

I lost a Spec' purist and one of them camelback ones.

If you don't want to be all fancy, the specialized rib cages are super grabby and don't ever eject bottles. I use them on the cross bike and swap them on to the road bike for bumpy races. Downside of course is that you can't whip the bottle out quite as fast when you want it.

I use the Specialized RibCage and whatever the side one is. They hold onto my CamelBaks (regular insulated and tall insulated) which have horrible shoulders. I flatted a front tubular the other day (on a pothole), I've moved my bars, etc, and the bottles haven't gone anywhere. Cages are 3? years old now, I had some for 2 years that don't match so I took them off but they're still okay.

Never dropped a bottle from either kind. $20 or so apiece full price, available at every Spec dealer.

Arundel is well worth the money.

My brother and sister each gave me an Arundel Dave-O for Christmas in 2006. In late 2007, I crashed and thought I broke the cage. I was so mad that I broke a $50 cage.When I got home, I learned the cage was fine. The frame was broken. Those Dave-Os are still going strong.

On my new bike, I bought the Mandibles. They are a little lighter and a little better looking, IMO. but both work great.

+1. These are my favorite plastic cages. My race bike is steel, though, so I use King Stainless on that, which are also excellent. Cause they look way classier. Haven't lost a bottle from them despite their being a lot looser than the rib cages.

Thinking seriously about replacing the DA 7900/Ultegra 6700 drivetrain on my Look 585 with 105 5800. I've got the 5800 on my Allez Comp Race and it's really nice, and it's <$400 from the UK online places...which is cheaper than I can get it at cost at the LBS where I work. Shifting is at least as nice and the braking and hood shape are better. Biggest drawback is having "105" on that lugged carbon frame.
