seems to be a good price to me, especially if it's a full 105 gruppo. get the fit right, throw some new wheels on it, and should be a more than suitable race bike.

Gemini Aluminum Road Frame

Anyone have any experience with Williams frames? I cant find much info on the interwebs about this one, but im liking the price.

I don't know if the price is good or not. Check geometry to assess stack and reach and get a sense of it will fit for you. My sense is that it's a good aluminum race bike.

Was riding with a Jr. that has a Wiiliams/Aeros frame last night. He seemed to like it, but it was the carbon model and he's not too heavy. That's not a bad price for the alloy frame.

It's the bottom end frameset for the Allez. As a deal, it's decent, not special. It'd be an upgrade from what you have. If that's at the top of what you can afford, go for it...otherwise see what else you can find. This year's version has the Smartweld frameset, up a notch or two above last year's version. It'd be a better choice if you can afford it.

I would totally steal that photo and profit off it somehow, except for the darn watermark. Foiled!

sorry.....believe it or not, some scammers do swipe photos and then represent it as a product they have (for sale on ebay 'n stuff). d'oh!

A tad bit overpriced, but Barry Bonds is getting one so maybe I should too.

....and I'd never swipe photo off the internet... :P

globecanvas 07-02-15 03:19 PM

It has a "pro" button! That's worth half the selling price right there.

value is so personal.

value of reliable data is really high for me. i feel something like the garmin 1000 @ $700, which is a toy, is overpriced (and i've been a garmin user for >15 years and have 2 on my desk).

i can't comment on the value of the 8 as i haven't used one yet, but i'm about to go ride...right after i deliver a few to happy customers. :)

Had the shop update firmware on the wife's 6870. Works perfectly now, have it wired up currently. It was moment of truth time when I slid the junction box down the downtube through the headtube. Super tricky to get it all to work with no access hole on account of the sealed BB on her R3. Planning on a sick shakedown ride together tomorrow.

is 36-28 going to be enough gears for Devil's Kitchen?

I think so, a 34/26 was fine when I rode it a few weeks ago.

If you haven't raced it before, I'll just say that it's a very different thing to hit that climb after a couple hours of racing than to go jam up it fresh. I'm sure you'll get up it with 36x28 but it's also likely that at some point on the climb you will wish you had more gears.

Exactly. I made it up fine with a 39x28 last year, but my cadence was in the 50s for some of the steeper pitches, so a 36/34 on the front or a 30/32 would be helpful in a race.

Interesting thing on PC8 accuracy - looks like several people on WW are seeing some big GPS variances

revchuck 07-05-15 03:06 AM

Looked at the DC Rainmaker review of the Garmin 520 last night. For the first time, I feel tempted to replace my 500, mainly for the Bluetooth connectivity.

I was also thinking about snagging a Powertap crank-based powermeter when they come out, but the copay for my wife's dental work wiped out that idea. :(

Just scored a pair of Giro Empires that have minimal use on ebay for $40 buy it now...I feel like the guy meant to put $140, but I could be wrong

For a few months, I have been contemplating the purchase of a tt bike. I'd use it for several tt's during the year and likely at least two stage races. I am looking to stay under $2K, and used is absolutely an option. I've ridden tt's on my road bike and I come away always knowing that I left a lot of time out there because of it.

1. I am looking on slowtwitch and CL locally and there are options. I ride a 56 cm top tube on the road bike and I figure a bike listed as 54 cm or 56 cm would likely work. But with the steep seat tubes and such, I imagine my naivety might throw me off. This is a concern if I use slowtwitch as I will not be able to test ride it. (I see a Carbon Concept on there right now that might fit.) Any advice here?

2. Any other general advice?

Thanks.

Thanks for the advice here. Need to consult the wife on what she wants to climb in. I need to get new 6800 chain rings.

We are doing a Tt in a stage race (toc), are clip ons or spinaci allowed in that type of event? I didn't see a tech guide on the site yet.
