riding without power, cadence, or heart rate is weird.

I had the procedure on a Friday afternoon. Rode to work (easy 4 mi) on Monday morning. YMMV.

It's kind of nice sometimes. On most of my rides I just treat them as JRA's outside of the interval periods. I know where I am generally speaking zone wise so I just ride and do whatever.

I agree. Every once in a while I just go for a ride. It's liberating.

I watched this crash at the crits on Sunday... cat5 field. I dunno what happened, maybe someone here can tell... looks like maybe his foot came unclipped while sprinting, but there was definitely no contact with another bike.

https://youtu.be/TpaVpa3ewss?t=27m9s

edit: looks like I linked the video to start a lap early.

Looks like he briefly touched wheels with the rider ahead of him. He's off his saddle before he gets obscured only to reappear wobbling all over the road.

p.s. I love the drink and splash 20 seconds before the sprint! Although a true Cat 5 would have chucked the bottle to save weight.

if you're into a non-technical course where guys with sustained power can get a gap and go, then yes, it's fun. I raced it once with a 30mph wind and the front stretch was into it, pretty much worked out perfectly for me get a huge gap, but couldn't sustain the power on the downwind part and not enough corners to work through.

You can tell it's cat 5 from all the riders on their hoods.

Update on the Air Attack - took it for its maiden voyage. I have no idea if it's any faster, but there is significantly less drag apparent on my head (as in, my head doesn't feel like it's got sails on it) when descending especially. It's very comfortable, but it was also like 30 out so I have no idea how it'll feel when it's warm.

Totally agree. I'm home sick today because some jackweeds were coughing up a storm all week last week. Sick leave exists, use it people.

I caught norovirus a couple of years ago because an account manager thought she could tough it out and save sick days...

The unfortunate part of the sick story is Puppy caught it from a teammate - or a director.
Puppy decided to get in a car with a bunch of kids (we never did that in my day) on rain day and some were sick and a director was sick and Puppy didn't have his water bottles and borrowed on.
He is quite lean and seems to be more susceptible to viruses than most. Then also trainer believes in training through the sickness, so I think it takes longer to get over. Frankly a hard call, as most viruses take 7-10 days to get over. Just a month ago he was sooo strong.

I think sickness takes about 4-6 weeks out of form by the time you recover and get most of your form back. It may however add to the hunger part. We shall see.

I'm having trouble with the story Doge told because the way it's written makes me wonder if it's referring to a dog or if Puppy is someone's nickname.
