Ironically the long chain link fence is the southern side (opposite side) of what is now Rentschler Field, what used to be the Pratt&Whitney runway area. We race on the northern side of that runway complex, by the stadium. Trivia - the airport for Pratt had the longest runway in the area, enough for whatever long range 747 or something, longer than Bradley or Brainard, because Pratt would sometimes have such planes land there.

have her look into Western Wheelers or Meetup.com rides. for non-race, endurance, and friendly rides, I think that's the route these days.
Alternatively you could ask in the norcalcycling forum. haven't been in there in a while, but that was the crowd back when I frequented it.

So this week I nearly doubled my volume and increased my TSS by 1/3. This was my transition from riding exclusively on the trainer to riding almost exclusively outside. My TSB is in the dirt, my ATL/CTL took a big jump, and I feel like I've just given half my blood. Thankfully tomorrow is a rest day, and then I'll get out there and do it all over again. Gotta build the diesel up before the stage races start.

Somebody fall down?
Looks like I picked a good weekend to skip Johnny Cake. Teammate in the 3/4s said somebody got blown off the road in the sprint. But the former teammie who just got the cycling scholarship got 3rd in the P123 against a really strong field, dang.
I spent the weekend in the city, gorging alternately on street halal and LES jew food. There is peace in the middle east, in my stomach. If I still lived in the city I would weigh three million pounds.

Yeah. For the third year in a row I crashed out of an early season race. I have a shattered clavicle, two broken ribs, a broken hand, and a punctured lung. I'll be in the hospital for a day or two. Lots of people helped me to whom I am eternally grateful.

@shovelhd oohhhhhhh noooooo. When I saw the man down comment the first thing I did was check your FB page, but no mention there. I'm so, so sorry to hear it. I wish you the fastest and smoothest recovery.

You need surgery for the collarbone? They won't do that obviously until you get cleared on the lung. They won't put you under. The ribs while the least concern for the doctors will be the worst of it. I needed percocet just to knock me out so I can get to sleep. Pretty similar injuries to what I had in 2010, though thankfully it doesn't sound like you have a concussion.
I'd text you but I figure it's hard enough to sleep there.
