Happy Father's day to the dads on here. It's my first, but unfortunately I'm away from my daughter today. Kinda sucks, but I'll fly home next weekend and see her.

Happy Father's day @Flatballer and to all others. I plan on joining you someday!
My gf and I are meeting my parents at Hamilton's (beer bar/pub) this evening. It will be on me . Yes, this does means that we will miss Game of Thrones .
In separate news, we celebrated our 3 year (dating) anniversary last night with a fancy dinner at Mister A's - it was a class act.

So I have a question. I was gone when they added mentions thing. Isn't that a mention? Other people have done it, yet mine always shows 0.

Yeah Flatballer, I don't know how the mentions work and how they're different from tags. As far as I can tell right now @Flatballer has neither mentions nor tags and @TMonk has been mentioned a 58 times but hasn't been tagged. We'll see if this changes that. I think I've both mentioned your name and tagged you, though when I edit this message it has mention tags around where I've @ you , while I thought that would tag you and neither of your numbers increased.

I wonder if [tag][/tag]-ing your name will give you a tag. Let's see [tag]Flatballer[/tag]

I live in the Bay Area but found myself rooting for LeBron as usual. If only so I could remind @shovelhd of our arguments years ago where I said he'd go down as an all-time great and you said he wasn't clutch!

the skeptic in me has always thought it's the same reason live telemetry got canned a while back.....that it would expose things that look suspect. (of course, live telemetry is being dangled in front of us again; we'll see if it happens.)

A lot of the pros post full data ... I think a few teams don't allow it, but from what Ive seen most do.

still...don't assume that any publicly-released data has not been doctored...at least i wouldn't, esp when those articles get published.

confession: i don't know one way or another--i'm a sporadic strava user and don't follow any pros. just responding to the earlier comment which i took at face value.

Seems Euro pros are less inclined than their American counterparts to make data available (could also be top UCI vs Conti level team approaches):

I suspect some of the data is released just to make me feel bad about myself, to be honest:

I don't know the proportion of pros who publish power vs those who don't. I used to follow greipel, and he has power data, but I don't think I've seen them for races. I follow a couple of the local riders who are "continental pros," and I remember seeing their numbers earlier in the year during base building, and now, I no longer see their power for the races.

@Flatballer I don't know how the mention functionality works, I thought that if you put an @ before and username that it would do it automatically. I'll report this thread and see if any of the other mods have a quick answer.

That was an incredibly entertaining basketball game. I went to school in Cleveland so I was both rooting for the Cavs and also resigned to their failure. So satisfying that they won. I usually prefer to watch balanced teams that move the ball around rather than a one man show but holy cow LeBron was fun to watch. It seemed like he just wanted to win more than anybody else on the court.
On the power data, I doubt if the pros who do regularly upload power to Strava are doctoring the data. For one thing, you can see on the ride overview page if the data comes directly from a device or if it was a generic uploaded data file (technically that could be spoofed too, but that would require actual hacking rather than just editing some fields in WKO and exporting a file). Also, the guys who do upload data tend to upload it regularly, and it would just be a lot of unnecessary work to doctor it when instead you could just not upload it.

A buddy of mine got a puppy - Mastif/Great Pyranese mix. It's going to be huge. Anyway, I went over to his house yesterday to play with the new dog. I realized this morning though that when friends get puppy's I rush over to see them. But when friends have kids, eh, I'll get around to seeing them sooner or later.

i thought i'd be more of a kid person when I had kids, but my son is 5 and i still have zero interest in other people's kids (fortunately, I care about my own lol)

Puppies are cuter than babies. Especially new babies. This is just a fact. New babies aren't that cute, don't do anything interesting, and sleep like 20 hours a day.

But yes, puppies are cuter than babies. Walk down the street with a baby and a puppy and nobody will even notice the baby. If you ever need to make sure your baby is rescued from a sinking ship, duct tape it to a puppy.
