The first part totally sucks.

The second part is great.

Hopefully it works out.

My beloved german sled (vw golf) starting acting up this morning on the drive to work. The catalytic converter starting rattling while idling and the check cat. converter light came on. I am now running through worst case scenarios and looking up what can possibly go wrong instead of actually being productive at work. I have a service call scheduled for tomorrow anyway at the dealership, hopefully it's nothing major. Cycling wise, it's a recovery week for me so I've at home after work binging on netflix. I started watching The Office (U.S), how did I miss this show when it was on?

Was planning to ride my TT bike today but realized I have a bunch of scabs where the elbow sits on the pad so that's out....ugh. The bar ends are pretty uncomfortable (no tape, real low) for anything over 1 minute but the trainer may work....

The clock is moving slowly today, I have about an hour left at work then I am on vacation for the next 12 days! I'm about to pack up my jeep with the kids, boogie boards and a bike and heading to CA for a week. San Diego then Santa Barbara. Can't wait!

If the cat is rattling it's probably toast. You might be able to find one at a muffler shop, which could save a lot of money. Here in California it is illegal to sell or install used cats and new ones have to be approved for the vehicle. Some of the cats I install are $1600 or even more. Aftermarket cats are a lot less.

Well...just over 6 months in the making and I have my new bionic tooth in place finally. Permanent crown put on top of titanium post screwed into my jaw. I had some super secret tech added that displays a HUD on my left cornea showing race situations up the road so I can make good race decisions. Now I need to train...

I would have thought Froome would have won one. Guess not.

Pretty sure that was lifted off the ALP Cycles coaching Facebook page. It was Alison's profile pic for a little while.

Mostly. At least it's adaptive and on computer now, so some peeps don't memorize correct box to fill in.

Computerization of tests is a scam. Back in the day, we could answer the ones we were sure of, skip the rest, circle back, answer the ones we were pretty sure of, eliminate obvious wrong answers in others, circle back a second time and make educated guesses, then circle back a third time and check everything out. Now, the tests are faster, but you lose that.

first time I took the GRE. the b**ch wouldn't let me in because I didn't have my green card. there goes $175. but nevermind that. why are undergraduate and graduate admission partially hinged on a worthless standardized test that tests for 4th grade math using 7th grade logic, and a whole bunch of obsolete words that nobody uses in the real world?

btw, the tests are still paper based overseas, and cheating is a real issue. it happens every year.

everything ETS, princeton review (which has nothing to do with Princeton University btw), baron, etc. all leeches on society

I got kickass grades on a subject specific GRE (Chemistry) in 09. I was in a great position - had just finished upper division course load, and was instructing a 1-unit supplemental course to General Chemistry, so the fundamentals were solid.

Instead I got a job, worked 4 years and let them expire - doh!

That's OK - I'm learning that more technical schooling is not for me, I don't enjoy research or bench work in the lab.
