I see 8th for you.
Finally shook off the cold that I've had for about 5 weeks. Lung thing, bad, was coughing orange (blood + mucus) for a solid 5-7 days. So without that I felt much better. Officlals said yellow line on the course (walking lane) and it made things a bit narrow. I squeezed through one opening that was a bit tight, I probably shouldn't have done it, I have to look at my footage to see when I did it, but as someone said I just made myself narrow and squeezed through.
Last lap a guy made a solid move up the slight hill in the back. I know this hill well, having raced it for about 30 seasons, initially 2 races a year, later 3-4 races a year. So when I say I felt good, I felt phenomenal. My weight loss plus my relative fitness (maybe the intervals?) allowed me to really punch it over the top so I did and I went. He pulled over after 100m? and yelled that we're going to lose if I don't go. I was thinking, "If I go then you're going to lose." He yelled at me to go again so I went. I'm still waiting for the files to copy over to verify when etc but I did a jump to get to the last turn, carved that turn, then went to the line. I exited the turn in the 12, popped it in the 11, and went like stink. I was waiting for that swarm of riders to just swamp me but no one came by. I didn't even dare look.
Seems totally not real because I never actually did a field sprint, it was just following a move, making my own, and then holding it to the line.
Doesn't seem real.
Overall the day was good. Good weather, lots of support from the racers, things went reasonably well, no crashes, so overall a good day of race promotion. The Missus prepared food (total lifesaver), Junior showed up and wanted to sit next to me, and it was only a 15 hour day.

It was a great move, because it was a move and not a sprint. It was total chaos behind you, the whole field sprinted from the last corner, which is, I don't know, 300m+? Too far to sprint, anyway, guys were just flaming out left and right, it was like a pinball machine. If there had been any structure to it, not even organization but something less than mayhem, maybe you'd have gotten caught, but the move just blew the field apart. Fun to watch!

Topsport Stage Race 2s
2nd by clerical error in road race.
5th? in the TT. Was 3rd before the circuit race, was 5th after the circuit race. Amatuer hour does not describe the timing on the TT situation. Pages of handwritten times with way-too-complex math because they started the finish clock wrong, and then adjusted it mid stream. Etc. Booo.
Team rode like a boss to protect our 2nd and 3rd in GC. We did it, pulled everything back. Kept it together for 40mi/90 minutes of fast, elbows-out racing. 1st in GC crashed out on the last lap. We were thinking 2nd and 3rd at worst, 1st if they follow the letter of the rules and give GC leader his time when he finished.
Nope. Nope. 4th and 5th for the team, me in 5th, after literally 3 hours of protests and waiting.
I earned 11 points for the weekend, am walking away with 7. Puts me at 35. I'll wait 'til results post and think about upgrading 2->1.
They raised the bar from 30-35 and made points not expire. It was a goal of mine to not use that 2nd half. 11 months. 35 points. Done.

CCCX circuit race 1/2/3's - 3rd.
Fell out of the winning break. More like it split up/was attacked and I just couldn't follow.. spent 2.5 laps (about 30 minutes) solo, but at least held off the pack.
Wanted to do better of course, but 3rd isn't that bad.

is that the longest you've ever been solo in a race? and that's pretty good, for a sprinter!

Luckily we had like 3-4 minutes on the pack by that point, they weren't really chasing..
Guy that won apparently changed bikes(?!) on the last lap, lost 30 seconds on his break mate but made it up and still won. Ex-mexican natl team supposedly. (vumedi guy, hadn't heard of him before)
I kept hoping I'd see one of them on the side of the road with a flat or something.. guess he did get a flat, but somehow got a replacement bike! lol

did some bicycle racing this weekend, 2nd in my hometown p123 race. Used winnings for some froyo, red robin burger + endless fries, and organizers let me take like 5 bananas , 3 bagels, a box of oreos , and 4 coke cans from the recovery tent. SOLID WEEKEND.

i really need to get better at the racing part of bike racing as opposed to just the "riding around in circles really fast" part. but hey, at least this weekend i successfully rode around in circles really fast unlike last weekend.

Trooper Brinkerhoff A Race (P123): Team showed up in good numbers (6). We spent the entire race just making sure we had someone in any move that went. It worked got our new guy in the 7 man breakaway and I was in the 7 man Chase group (#1 of like 3). It became one of those situations where I couldn't really help the chase make the bridge and all my "attack and try to solo across" attempts failed. Never did the race before so I attacked WAAAYYYY too early in the last K and got 6th in my group (12th overall). Teammate also got 6th in his group (6th overall). Good showing but I will be honest; I am close enough to the Cat 1 upgrade that I just want F-ing points now.
I atleast got to take my frustrations out on my teammates during our training ride on Sunday.

Last crit race of a so-so season for me. Az State Championships. Course was 0.9 miles looked like a "b".
Cat 4's Friday evening 40min . Didn't have the legs to match all of the accelerations especially out of the 180. Stuck behind crash at 15 min could not get back on. Caught and pulled at 30min. finished 37/43.
Masters 50-54 Sunday morning 35 min. Everyone 50+ raced together and groups scored seperately. 40 or more racers altogether. Much better legs. Stayed with lead group for 25min then got popped on the 180 again. Finished full race on same lap as winners. 10/14or15 for age group.
On a positive note, my NP for last race was 20W higher than race a month ago. So I do feel fitness/power has been improved. Hopefully with a good year(read stay health) I can make the improvements I need to be able to stay in races for the duration.
