Walking around won't really affect the tightness and responsiveness of most cleats (including crank brothers) since the part you walk on doesn't really interface with the pedal. Its clipping in and out and cranking that wear the inside flanges of the cleat and can make the pedal feel sloppy and loose. Of course, if you walk around wearing out your cleats you are increasing the likelihood of snapping off one of the flanges suddenly, which would be a bad thing.
