In my experience, the 'armadillo' option is the best. I have been running Continental Gatorskins, Specialized armadillos and Schwalbe Marathons and haven't had a puncture in (jinx!) 3 years, excepting 2 pinch flats.

Slime is just messy, and never truly seals the puncture leaving you with a slow leak and a messy tyre change.

Installing Kevlar liners are a hassle. The rigid plastic equivalent can slip and pinch flat the inner tube. If you do puncture, it is unlikely that you will have the patience to get everything seated correctly on the road. And you still end up with damage to the tyre casing where an armoured tyre will only have tread cut.
