Yarr, shes a beauty! Double bar too.. my favorite!
To remove the chain just bend it sideways back and fourth at the masterlink, it'll take a while but it should eventually come apart, spray some liquid wrench or some kinda oil in that area if its stiff to help things out. You can also stick a very thin pocket knife blade or smething similar to pop the m-link off once you loosen it up, just dont put too much force as you dont want to bend anything. Once shes off soak her in kerosene for a day or so and it should be good to go!
Not to sure about getting ahold of a replacement badge. Both my 40s CCMs are missing em also sadly. They are diamond shaped from that period though, and some even had the model names on em; eg: Red Bird, Rambler.
Best of luck with the bike!
PS: I was looking at the non drive side photo of a CCM with that type of crank, it looks like you should be able to remove the left crank arm, then undo the crank nut/bearing cone nut and slide everything out together from the right side from there by hand, just a guess.. I've had some cottered cranks like this on a CCM and it worked the same way.
