Yep, McLachlan is a monster for sure.
I remember chatting to him a few years ago after the finish of the DeBortoli Tour of Yarra Valley (I had done a corner flag waving duty for the day). Seemed a pretty quiet, unassuming bloke & he said thanks for marshalling so & I asked him how he went in the race and he says "Oh, I won", just like it was a training ride. I go, "Nice work, what grade?" & then felt pretty stupid as he replies "Oh, overall.." & sort of shrugs his shoulders. It wasn't until later i found out who he was & where he came from.
fFir call by Jay, I reckon as good as it could be, being a pro rider would probably suck a fair proportion of the time, too.
