I think the whole issue of frame "feel" has a lot to do with geometry and componet spec. As a pretty big rider, what I can feel is the torsional stiffness (or lack of it) of a frame when I stand up and mash. I had my bike built with large diameter tubes, and as a result it is the stiffest frame I own.
