I don't think that the new 07 escape mechanism is as bad as people say. Yes 1 or 2 shifts at a time but, every other group does that. ALso, I think I remember reading how the shifting has actually gotten easier, it already was pretty easy. I suspect shifting takes very little time, and it would be nice if it was easier to shift for the FD anyways.
My 06 veloce is fantastic. I can downshift the entire spectrum of 10 gears in at once if I really push the lever down to the max. I can upshift 5 at a time if I push it to the max. It is not comfortable to do that though, so I only shift 2 gears at once anyways.
If I saw some brand new 07 veloce shifters sitting at my doorstep, a gift from god, I would install them over the 06.
