Odd how things come together. Friday I read this string. Sunday I rode in the Tour de Poway Metric Century, NE of San Diego. About 20 miles into the ride a very large pick up truck towing a very large trailer (horse country) wanted to pass the pace line at a 90 degree turn. The truck was force to slow and after the turn a rider took up the position described above. The "guard" position kept the truck driver from driving to close to the line. HE wasn't happy and let us know with his horn, but the tactic worked.
