I'm playing with an old Trek and would like to locate Shimano 600 parts of similar vintage to make it a good riding/shifting winter bike, etc.

The brake levers I have are Shimano 600 etched with "BL-6208"

SO, Do all Shimano parts of that vintage (i.e. same year) have the same code?
Meaning: would a crankset, FD,RD, etc. have the same code even though they were different parts?

Extrapolation of this idea would look something like this I guess:
BL-6208
FD-6208
RD-6208
