You have no idea, or maybe you do, what a relief it was to hear that. Gonna dig up the "owner's manual" again, and re-read to see what I was missing. I know enough to keep it clean, and keep the cylinders lubed so the gaskets don't get funky, and prevent contamination, but that's the extent of my hydraulic knowledge.

Thanks for the reply, and taking the time to research further. I'm in the market for another LBS, and glad I have so many to choose from. I took my older Trek 520 in (to a Trek dealer that sold me my newer Trek) when I put it back into service, and told them I would like to replace the brake pads since after 15 some years, I figured they had hardened to the point they should be replaced. They looked at the pads, and said these are probably the only things we have that will fit. Not a very bright lad I fear, and he gave me pads that are too long and rub on the front fork. DOYYYYYYYYY the brakes are old but not obsolete. They function just fine and I can't see replacing them just so I can get pads that fit. Shoulda took them off the bike and to the store, but the bike was in my van so I figued I couldn't go wrong. Guess they didn't appreciate my vintage machine as much as I do, I know I'll find someone who does before I by my next bike in spring. SO I may have gone a long way to say, you seem like the kinda wrench I would be MORE than happy to do business with if you were local!!
