Bikes: so many

I just thought of another cool idea. How about a remote controlled front brake? Wait till the guy is turning, lock that sucker up and let the road rash begin.

I have never caught someone stealing one of my bikes, but I have bikes stolen and I've had my bikes/locks messed with in a lame attempt to steal them. A couple of funny ones come to mind.

I once found my rear wheel removed from the frame, but both frame and wheel were chained to the pole. You really would have to be pretty stupid not to notice, the chain went right around the seat tube and through the wheel. I'm not really sure if the thief was trying to take the wheel or the rest of the bike, but I had a good laugh as I unlocked it and put the wheel back on.

Last week I forgot my chain and locked up with a super wimpy cable lock that I keep in my bag to lock up my seat and front wheel if its gonna be parked for a while. I was on the beater I keep at my office and I planned on taking it back and putting it inside for the night, but was too drunk/lazy to walk the 4 blocks so I just locked it up and jumped on the train. The next day I found it sitting on top of the rack with the wimpy lock twisted around about 10 times. I think the would be thief thought they could get it to break if they twisted it enough.

It's really kind of disappointing how lazy these guys are, with a little extra effort and planning they could get the job done in much less time. I guess that's why their stealing bikes to begin with.
