Lossy, I'm not sure where you are from, but this is how it is in NY.
I got hit by a van a short while ago while on the bike riding legally with traffic.
I saw a cop writting a summons, pulled up to the cop, and here was the exchange:
me: You see that blue van?
cop: Yea'
me: Well he just hit me
cop: you need an ambulance?
me: No, I don't think so.
cop: You want me to take a report?
me: Is that all you can do about it?
cop: Yup.
And the guy hit me, not just a bike. Welcome to NY!!!
