The italian manufacture probably increased the price and the fact that at least 2 people wanted it. There are a couple NOS lowergrade columbus frame at the LBS for $425. If he is fixing it the frame should be stiffer due to it's increased thickness which is a good thing for fixed if you're cranking it up those hills. I think this is a fair price, maybe a little high, but not worthy of it's own thread. just my $.02
