Is there a broken spring in there? Should I bother trying to disassemble it?

New brifters are expensive, and I just bought a new 9 speed cassette, chain, and short cage rear derailleur (plus new wheelset). I wish I had known it was going to break, or I would have ordered 10 speed stuff and gotten brifters at the same time. Any reason to go with Ultegra over 105? Bike is a Cannondale cross that I'm currently using just for commuting.

thx, eric
Also check to make sure the small screw that threads into the upshift lever is still there.
