I could use some good vibes right about now!

I'm really bummed and in a lot of pain right now. I was born with the flattest set of feet in the world but they never caused me any real trouble. They were just flat.

Well, a few years ago that started to change. What little arch I had in my left foot began to collapse, eventually deterioraing to the point that everytime I took a step I was driving bone straight down into the ground. That bone developed spurs and swelled to the point that it looked like there was a golf ball inside my foot. The ligaments that connected the bones in that part of my foot were also being abused by the constant pounding so that finally I couldn't stand it anymore and asked my doctor if there was any way to remedy the situation. As it turns out, there was.

Tuesday, I went into surgery for three hours. During that time my doctor cut out the old piece of deteriorated bone from my arch, installed bone grafts in the inner and outer edge of my foot to recreate a natural arch, installed some screws and plates to hold that stuff all together until it heals, and finally, he detached my left calf tendon from my foot and moved it higher up on my ankle to alleviate the strain that my collapsed arch was putting on it. So, I have incisions on the inner and outer edge of my foot and another right in the middle of my calf. At first I was told that I could place no weight on my foot for 6 weeks but I get the feeling it's going to be longer than that because the doc gave me a handicap parking permit that's good for 4 months.

Anyway, I'm taking Oxycodone for the pain but it isn't able to mask it all and it's making me light headed and weirding me out somewhat. So, if you wouldn't mind sending a good thought my way I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mike
