riding without helmet and lights is part of the 'cool' counterculture of bicycling. seems idiotic and sophmoric to me.

The anti-light, anti-helmet currents run DEEP, there was a local bike shop owner going off last night on a Seattle internet board about a local counterculture night ride. How most people on these rides don't have lights and no one wears helmets.....he seemed full of hubris about the lack of safety equipment. Wacky and Wild is all i have to say about that.
