Absolutely ludicrous.

I've chimed in a lot of this thread, and I'll end it with hopefully through the efforts of the Wilhelms we'll see a decrease in mobile-phone usage while operating a vehicle, which will ultimately make the roads a safer place.
I don't see this as much as a hands free issue...lots of states have those laws already and they are pretty easy to implement.

I see it more as a youth driver issue and the lack of maturity and understanding combined with the heavy responsibility of driving a car safely. Its a bad mix and I think it should be much harder for kids to keep thier driving privledges after the've been given a summons. Laws and restricitions need to weed out the irresponsible ones.

Here's another thought. Parents get their kids a DL adn give them use of a car so they can get to school and soccer practice and whatnot, so it frees up the parents from doing that. The way our communities have developed, bikes have been written out of the picture as a means for transportation.

What ever happened to riding your bike to practice, or to your friends and whatnot. Our communities have become very unfriendly to bikes, as there's hardly even a place to ride them anymore, much less lock them up. At the heart of this driving issue is a cycling issue. Part of the effort to resolve these issues should lie in making it easier for kids to get around on bikes. Just my 10 cents.
