Yes, will you have to buy two different set of maps from Garmin. Make sure the European version has the maps of the countries you are visiting in Europe. Make sure you get City Navigator and not MetroGuide if you want the unit to be able to auto-route.

I recommend getting a 1gig or 2gig micro SD card for your GPS so you'll be able to load up a ton of maps before you go.

The unit will draw out a route for you but it's not perfect. When you get your unit... Go to the setup menu then routing then click on "Follow Road Options..." Set the unit to calculate the route for BICYCLE and avoid TOLL ROADS and anything else you do want the unit to route for.

The GPS 76 Cx is a good unit for bicycling. The only negative I can think of is the size of the unit.
