I'd suggest a trip to the "fabric district" in NYC. That's from 38th to 40th street between 7th and 8th Avenues (Easily reachable by commuter train or bus, just downtown from Times Square or the Port Authority Bus terminal, and just uptown from Penn Station).
Of course, that does you no good if you're in Seattle ;-)
I work in the 20's btwn 6/7, so I will take a trip up to the fabric distict...You don't know of any good places that specialize (or at least carry) these types of materials, do you?
