Me thinks yes. Now, if it is a vintage MTB, it should have 130mm spacing not 126. Check it again to see. Almost every 80's to early 90's MTB rear 6/7 speed hub was 130mm.

Let's say that the bike really is 126, why would you want to spread to 135 for single speed? Just have a rear wheel built for 126.
