If you are a follower of Jobst Brandt (and I admit I am), then you believe that black tires with carbon black in the tread compound (Avocets?) are markedly superior in the rain. Michelin says its Pro Grip (black where it contacts the ground) is 60% better in the rain than the Pro Race. Makes me think the Pro Race isn't too good in the rain.
