When you unthread the ball ring from the hub shell, you might want to use a brass punch so as not to mar the notches. When you get to the end of the threads, go slowly and carfully, pulling on the ring and mark both the unit and the hub at the point where the thread releases. This is because the thread is a double start and at re assembly, it's important to engage both starts at once. It can be done without marking, but it is a small precaution that makes it easier.
