Current state of BMX
why was bmx so popular? think about it. easy flowing tracks that anyone could see themselves progressing on. you could just roll over all the jumps if you wanted. now jumping and street have taken over. because people see the insane things people are doing now and thats all that is getting ratings. but the problem is when kids try to ride like the pros they can't emualate any of their moves... and they get bored really quick. they ride bikes that are heavy and exausting. and they go back inside and play more video games. many sports are suffering from this. where there is no entry point, and when people start they look dorky and quit. the guys that turn pro, so much is expected from them. and to get a good photo they are going to have to do something that absolutly no one would want to do for fun. same thing in skateboarding with guys doing huge 20 sets... not fun. If people get excited about racing again and just going out and having fun. not even ABA just racing buddies. then bmx may appeal to more kids and that means more jobs in bmx. and plus. racing builds caricter, and is also really fun. even if it's just timed laps. whatever, bmx is fun. and i want more kids off the coutch and out having a good time.
so your thoughts on this? and also. is anyone doing any underground racing right now? it's hard to because alot of the tracks are getting torn down. are you too radical for a bmx track? can't you add on your own transfers style pointsinside the track? or build jumps around the track?
