Hey, that's the weather we've got down here. I just bought a Descente Shelter jacket, some Campy thermal bib tights, and some PI Amfib booties. I'm good to go. I already have a balaclava for the ears and face and some gloves.
There was a Louis Garneau Gemini jacket that I liked; it had two front pockets that could act as vents, three pockets in the back instead of one like the Descente but it had more breathable fabric that doesn't stop the wind; I felt the Descente would keep me toasty for whatever Alabama winters could throw at me.
The Descente has zippered cuffs so if my arms get too warm I can unzip a bit and let the air come in. Both jackets were designed for you to wear layers underneath but still fit me pretty close. I don't like jackets flapping in the wind.
Oh, and I got a couple of Knog Frogs so I can ride in the dark. Very easy to mount/unmount these little critters. Plenty bright enough to be seen but I wouldn't use them to spot deer or nothin'.
