K2 Attack 3.0 Shock

I have just received a used K2 fully suspended and would like to replace the rear shock with a billet alluminium bar to get rid of the shock. What do you think? Will this damage the frame due to tourque or something else?
Would I be better off to get a stiffer spring set up?
