The one thing that cycling can boast is that it is the only sport that hundreds of thousands of people will line up for hours (even days) to see their sporting heros for about 30 sec.
Have you seen the statements F1 make about their viewing audiences? Figures higher than the population of the planet. They count watching a 5 second snippet on the news as 'viewership'. I'd believe F1 viewing figures only if you can demonstrate that Bernie Ecclestone is tall and a good bloke.
