Frankly, I find the SPD pedals easier to engage because the cleat and shoe surface is grippier and has more edges to "catch" on the pedals. The Look cleats feel dangerously slippery to me... even after 2 years of use I occasionally slip my foot clean off the pedal while trying to engage them.
The only reason I use the Looks on my "high-performance" road bike is because I have a pair of very nice road shoes that only take 3-bolt cleats.
